My Approach

My experiences working in various settings in the mental health and addictions field for almost seven years have led me to practice from a holistic perspective. My hope is to support those seeking to understand themselves more deeply and wanting a safe container to explore feelings, thoughts, and experiences that have perhaps been difficult to express with others. The road to self-discovery and healing can feel daunting and lonely at times; I’d like to walk alongside you with compassion, curiosity, and encouragement as you start to take steps towards healing what has been keeping you feeling “stuck”. In our work together, I seek to empower you to find what it feels like to be your most resonant, truest Self.

My process is collaborative, experiential, and trauma-informed. Most importantly, I value the process of coming together in a way that honours you as the expert on how you experience life. To complement your expertise, I will bring in knowledge and perspective about various tools that could help you navigate the challenges you are dealing with. Together we are a team, in that we each hold an important piece of the puzzle of how to support you. My style in the therapy room is both gentle and active. I strongly believe in focusing on strengthening the mind-body connection by moving beyond just talking about your challenges in an intellectual way to being able to practice embodying the full spectrum of your emotions and experiences. I’ve found that building this awareness and capacity often leads us to feeling more whole and able to tolerate life’s ups and downs with more finesse.

  • Hello and welcome! My name is Andy and I am a multiracial African immigrant settler on the stolen lands of the Coast Salish peoples. I have lived by the coast for the majority of my life and have always found being by the water to be incredibly soothing and grounding. Immigrating to Vancouver Island from Namibia with my family as an adolescent has been an influential part of my story as it led to navigating many challenges with finding a sense of belonging, negotiating aspects of my cultural identity, and working through intergenerational trauma. I am intimately familiar with feelings of loneliness, self-doubt, and that sense of not quite finding your place. Finding my own network of support and path towards healing has inspired me to create a welcoming space for anyone wanting to explore difficulties with cultural identity and belonging. At my core, I am someone who is deeply sensitive and expressive, and loves to laugh and play. I am a dancer and a huge fan of moving my body in any way, whether that’s doing yoga, going for a hike with my dog, swimming or paddling!
