My Approach
Starting this work, I found myself frequently energized at the idea of working with clients in unique, personal ways that highlighted their dynamic needs and gave space for flexibility in our work together. I just could not imagine having to pull out the same tools in a variety of different contexts and when working with different clients, knowing that we all have individual needs, perspectives, and beliefs. My approach as a therapist focuses on meeting each client where they are at, developing a collaborative plan ensuring they are in the driver's seat, and nurturing the duality of the counselling process. In honouring your unique placement in the world, all of its intersections and nuances, my hope is for you to feel seen, validated, and confident in our ability to work towards your goals together.
When starting work with a client, my priority is to help them determine what they might need from therapy and how to make the most of their time. Simply stated, there is no “right” way to engage with this process. I hope to help you feel supported and safe so that we can nurture a sense of comfort with personal exploration and growth that might not be possible in other relationships. Ultimately, you are the expert in your life and honouring this experience marks a critical cornerstone of what this process means to me. Focusing on curiosity, perspective expansion, and fostering safety, I like to consider my role in the therapeutic space to be one of reflection. Imagining a client at the center, the more I learn about you, and we explore together, I will adjust the “mirrors” to help give light to new themes, discover patterns, and work towards a greater sense of self.
As I emphasize the innate genuineness of this work, I also bring my own self to the room at each session. Just as I look forward to knowing you, there might be aspects of myself that might be beneficial for me to share. We might share humour, laugh, cry, reflect, and more, and the flexibility of my approach and identity in this role is one of the aspects I think offers the most value. I look forward to working with you and learning about your story!

Hello! My name is Noah (he/him), originally from Kamloops, the unceded and traditional lands of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc people within Secwepemcúl’ecw. It is a privilege to reside here and to have been able to call this community home. When I think about what represents my identity as a therapist, a couple of things come to mind. For one, I find it critical to address the privilege I hold as a white, cis-gender man and recognize the innumerable ways in which I carry this identity. As a queer, gay man, I have been afforded a specific lens through which I am empowered to engage in advocacy and support for 2SLGBTQPIA+ folks and other marginalized identities. Prior to In Good Company, I had the privilege of working with numerous areas of the queer community as well as supporting 2SLGBTQPIA+ students through one-on-one services and programming in a post-secondary environment. Outside of the therapeutic space, I recently made a move to Kelowna, BC and am excited to be able to explore the beautiful scenery of the Okanagan. During my time away from the office, I can often be found at local breweries with friends, watching RuPaul's Drag Race (I might ask you who your favourite queen is), and cuddling with my cat, Ravioli (Ravi).
